I received a wireless mouse with my computer. How can I connect it?

D
Answer by Dan Angel

In order to connect the wireless mouse to your computer, you will need to check its user manual. Basically, you need to connect the receiver in the USB port of your computer, to install the drivers and to insert the batteries. If the device is not working, right-click the Computer/My Computer icon, select Manage and open Device Manager. Expand the Mice and other pointing devices and the Universal Serial Bus controllers lists, right-click the mouse driver and select Uninstall. Reboot your computer, connect the mouse again using the USB receiver and reinstall the drivers.

Note: If you don't have the drivers, you can find them on the manufacturer's web page.

It doesn't work on my IBM R51e laptop. Can you help?

P
Answer by Pete Clapp

It doesn't work, either because it is not compatible with your system or it is not correctly installed. In order to fix the issue, uninstall the software using Add or Remove Programs feature (Control Panel > Uninstall a program) and run a registry cleaner to make sure that there are no leftover registry keys in your system. After that, navigate to the official web page and click the Download button next to your operating system version. If it doesn't work, use the provided contact form to get in touch with an official technician.

Answer by Aiden McLeod

This program is a simple replacement for the wireless network manager from Windows. By using this software, you cannot create a wireless network and you cannot access a secured network without the permission of its owner (the network password).

I have problems with the software:

  1. GUI Language problem
Background: OS Windows 2000 / system locale is Thai / user local is Thai.
Administrator can install the IntelProset in Thai, system running with Admin account in Thai. But when I switch to normal user, all elements of the interface that were displayed correctly in Thai with admin account become "????????????"
Question: Is there any way I can force software installation and GUI to be in English?
What I tried: I change system locale to English, install software, then change back to Thai and reboot. This leaves all GUI in English. Any better way?

  2. The software send "old token" to authenticate with "radius" server (see configuration in the attached file)
Background: There are situations to get connect with AP.

  3. Start or reboot machine to get connection - it is OK.

  4. Connect then disconnect from software, then connect again - It is OK.

  5. User carries his laptop around until he's out of AP range then comes in range - This is the problem; the software tries to send "old token value" to authenticate radius server which causes the RSA token to get locked.
Question: 1. I am sure that I have applied "NO cache credentials". Is there any way I can verify this example. Where is registry/file that I can look at?
Question: 2. How to force the application to ask for user + token every time when the loss connection of AP?

Answer by Stephen Prastman

The software uses current locale of the user on the computer where it is installed. To make it available for all users, the software had to be installed using Run as Administrator in the first place. Once it's installed for all users, simply change the language and then close it. With the next user, run it samet way and the language will be the one you setup. Additionally, it is possible that the product doesn't support installation for all users.

As for the connection method, simply access the ProSet application and delete all the preferred networks and configuration. Configure the one you need, repeat the procedure you mentioned and it should work normally.

Does anybody know how to enable a temporarily disabled profile management feature? I change the name of my Hub using another computer and the computer with the Intel(R)Proset still appears to be looking for the old hub name, and will not let me set the new hub name as default? Can anybody help?

S
Answer by Sean Hill

All the default and disabled profiles can be found in the Settings menu of the application. Start the Intel ProSet software then access its settings or simply click Profiles in the menu bar. Once the window is opened, enable, disable, remove from favorites the profiles you need. This is the only thing to do if you're using Intel ProSet to manage the wireless connections on your computer.
